Summer Movies in the Park: The Namesake

We heard you loud and clear...Summer Movies in the Park are back! Prospect Park Alliance, Fort Greene Park Conservancy and Rooftop Films announce Summer Movies in the Park, presented by NewYork-Presbyterian.

Based on the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri, a suburban teenager finds himself caught between his Indian roots and his American birthright as he searches for his own identity: from Calcutta to New York, the family must somehow strike a balance between age-old traditions and modern-day sensibilities as they search for a patch of common ground.

The screening will be preceded by a special Q&A session between the author of The Namesake (Jhumpa Lahiri), the film’s Director (Mira Nair), and lead actor (Kal Penn).

The Central Lawn will open at 6:00 PM, followed by a pre-screening Q&A session beginning at 7:30 PM. The film will begin shortly after sundown; come early to picnic and enjoy pre-movie entertainment.Please note that the movie may be cancelled in the case of inclement weather. Attendees will be notified via Eventbrite and the Prospect Park and Fort Greene Park social media channels.
