Families can deepen their engagement with DanceAfrica in this fun-filled outdoor class led by BAM teaching artist Kimani Fowlin, learning rhythms and movement from the African Diaspora.
About Kimani Fowlin
Kimani Fowlin is a dancer, choreographer, and Associate Professor, serving as Director of Dance and Chair of Theatre & Dance at Drew University. A longtime Rutgers faculty member, she received the NYSDEA Outstanding Dance Educator Award. Her international work includes performances in Russia, Ghana (Panafest), Greece, and Lebanon. She co-founded Boom!Beep!Bop!, a children’s program rooted in African Diasporic culture, and is a founding member of Black Dance Stories. Her ongoing project, Embodied Truth, explores parenting through race and gender. She also co-organized Dancing Around Race and has been a featured artist at Bates Dance Festival. She has been a BAM teaching artist for over 20 years.
