Come join NYC Parks and the Urban Park Rangers for an afternoon of historic exploration in Fort Greene Park! The Prison Ship Martyr's Monument is featured as a part of this year's Open House NY weekend, and Brooklyn Rangers will be present to help participants connect with it.
The memorial was built in the center of Fort Greene Park in 1908 as a tribute the 11,000 men, women and children who died on British Prison Ships during the Revolutionary War. Step inside this historic monument and learn about Fort Greene Park history, the Revolutionary War and the stories of those who perished.
